Stable Specifications - Ideal & Elite Range
Delivery & Construction
We are pleased to offer Free Delivery and Construction within a 50mile radius of our workshop in Netherstreet, Chippenham, Wiltshire. All Stable construction is carried out by our fully trained staff rather than subcontractors. All wooden stable sections bolted together for added strength.
Fixing to base
Two heavy duty anchor brackets are fitted to the uprights of each 3.6m wall. These are then bolted to the stable base using 10mm x 65mm mechanical fixings.
Height
Ideal Range Stables to the eaves is 2135mm and to the ridge 2895mm including Galvanised Steel Plinth.
Elite Range Stables to the eaves is 2480mm and to the ridge 3240mm including Galvanised Steel Plinth.
Treatment.
All internal and external timber is pressure treated with Tanalith E™ wood preservative for longevity against fungal decay & insect attack. Not including boards.
Framework
Ideal Range Stables 75mm x 50mm C16/C24 strength graded @ 610mm centres.
Elite Range Stables 100mm x 50mm C16/C24 strength graded @ 610mm centres.
Please note that many other stable manufacturers choose the smaller dimensioned 75mm x 50mm CLS (Canadian Lumber Standard), which is only 63mm x 38mm. As wood is a natural product, thicker means stronger, and therefore your building will last longer with a thicker frame.
Shiplap Cladding
We only use 16mm 5th grade Scandinavian redwood, fully tanalised for longevity against fungal decay & insect attack.
Roofing
Our standard offering is black maintenance free Onduline laid on 100mm x 50mm C16/C24 graded purlings @ 610mm centres with a minimum 15 degree pitch. All three of these requirements are specified by Onduline.
Elite Range Stables are fitted with a clear sheet of Onduline in each unit.
Cement Fibre. Marley Eternit profile 6 sheeting. Price on application.
Felt Shingle Roofing Alternatively, you may want an attractive felt shingle roof. Add a touch of originality price on application.
Stable Doors
Ideal Range Stable bottom doors are 1235mm wide with a height of 1220mm and 62mm thick. Bottom doors are lined with 11mm OSB BS5669 moisture resistant board & fitted with an anti bite strip and kickover latch. All doors are hung with 450mm hinges fastened with 150mm Brenton pad bolts for additional strength. Held open and secured with a cabin hook. All doors extend to ground level. All ironwork is fully galvanised for protection against the elements.
Elite Range Stable doors are steel framed with 150mm x 38mm thick Iroko hardwood inserts 1100mm wide with a bottom door height of 1325mm and 40mm thick. Bottom doors fitted with an anti bite strip and kickover latch. All doors are hung with adjustable hinges fastened with 150mm Brenton pad bolts for additional strength, held open and secured with a cabin hook. All doors extend to ground level. All frames and ironwork is fully galvanised for protection against the elements. Full door anti bite strips included.
All doors extend to ground level, meaning that bedding stays in place.
Tack Room Doors.
Ideal Range Stable Tack Room doors are 900mm wide 50mm thick. Hung with 450mm hinges fastened with 150mm Brenton pad bolts, held open and secured with a cabin hook. All doors extend to ground level, All ironwork is fully galvanised for protection against the elements.
Elite Range Stable Tack Room doors are steel framed with 150mm x 38mm Iroko hardwood inserts. All doors are hung with adjustable hinges and secured with a British Standard 5 lever mortice lock, held open and secured with a cabin hook.
All frames and ironwork fully galvanised for protection against the elements.
Kickboards
Ideal Range stables are lined to 1220mm high and include noggins to prevent objects dropping behind. As standard we use 18mm OSB moisture resistant (Oriented Strand Board), manufactured to BS5669. If you would prefer 12mm 5 layer ply in place of the OSB this can be fitted at no extra cost. Please inform our sales staff when placing your order.
Elite Range stables are lined to eaves height. As standard we use moisture resistant 18mm OSB (Oriented Strand Board), manufactured to BS5669. If you would prefer 12mm 5 layer ply in place of the OSB this can be fitted at no extra cost. Please inform our sales staff when placing your order. All Tack Rooms and Hay Barns also lined to eaves height.
Roof Canopy
Extends to 1200mm. Fully supported by a prefabricated plated truss.
We are able to fit an 1800mm (6') canopy to the front including decorative posts.
Guttering
Fitted to the front as standard, we use half round black guttering and include the necessary down pipes. Rear guttering is also available.
Windows
Ideal Range stable windows measure 600mm wide x 675mm high, The standard Hopper window is fitted with heavy duty weld mesh or our optional 4 blade Louvre window is fitted with bars for safety. Please inform our sales staff your choice when placing your order.
Elite Range stable windows measure wide 745mm x 955mm high, The standard 6 blade Louvre window is fitted with bars for safety.
The key benefit is that all of our window designs increase airflow to your stable without causing a draught; making life better for your horse.
Ventilation
We have created a unique arbour vent for our stables that is fitted under the overhang. Coupled with our window and the continuous ridge and eave vents. JWS are market leaders for well ventilated stabling. This makes the building not only more enjoyable for your horse, but will make it last longer too.
Rainwater Skirt
Made from highly durable uPVC, our Rainwater Skirt is fitted behind the external cladding & overhangs the plinth. This helps stop any water ingress, making life more comfortable for your animals.
Damp Proof Course
The DPC is fitted to the underside of all sole (bottom timber) plates.
